Situated in Argolid, which in ancient times was considered to be the center of Greece, Nafplio was the capital of the newly formed Greek state from 1828 to 1834. After 1834, the role of the nation's capital was passed to Athens.

With culture, history and natural beauty, Napfio has the quality of seducing visitors to live there. The Venetian fortress of Palamidi crowns the city as the most important monument there. Nafplio is divided into two parts - the old city and the new city.
